"The governor of Texas, Republican Greg Abbott, stated this Sunday that he will expand his security operation on the United States-Mexico border, where he has maintained tensions with President Joe Biden's administration.

Accompanied by thirteen of his Republican counterparts, Abbott told the press that the Texas National Guard is carrying out operations to enhance security measures on the southern border of the state, although he did not provide details.

The joint press conference took place at Shelby Park, an area in Eagle Pass controlled by Texan soldiers since last month, where Border Patrol agents are not allowed to process migrants who have just crossed the Rio Grande.

The Republican governor stated that he has the constitutional right to defend the state against "an invasion," an idea he has promoted in the face of the massive arrival of undocumented migrants.

"We are not going to limit ourselves to just this park," Abbott emphasized, standing with his Republican counterparts and a line of Texas National Guard tanks behind him.

The Republican once again criticized the White House and accused President Biden of "abandoning his responsibility to enforce U.S. laws."

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders also criticized the U.S. president during the press conference, stating that Republican governors have to "step up and do the job of the federal government."

Abbott is involved in several legal battles with the Biden administration over the installation of barbed wire on the border and a buoy barrier in the Rio Grande."
